Managing Insects and Disease

Preventative Treatments

Treatment for biotic (living) or abiotic (nonliving) diseases in trees are usually only effective if applied before plant problems occur. Most people will not notice an issue with a tree until signs develop and treatment options may not be effective or feasible. The type of treatment necessary will vary with tree species and its susceptibility to certain biotic and abiotic diseases. Benson Tree Service can inspect and assess your trees and recommend treatments (if needed) as part of an Integrated Pest Management program.

Finding Information about Emerald Ash Borer (E.A.B.)

"EAB is able to kill all ash trees, regardless of their health, age or size. It has killed hundreds of millions of ash trees already in the U.S. As of July 2017, it was found in two locations in Nebraska: Omaha and Greenwood. EAB advancing westward across the state is not up for debate; what is unknown is how many years it will take." -Nebraska Forest Service

The Nebraska Forest Service has an abundance of information on the Emerald Ash Borer and provides up-to-date information on E.A.B. in Nebraska. We recommend visiting the sites listed below:
